United Asian American Organizations (UAAO)

United Asian American Organizations (UAAO), established in 1988, is a coalition comprised of member Asian/Pacific Islander American student organizations across the University of Michiganʻs Ann Arbor campus.  and serves as a clearinghouse for member student organizations. UAAO provides leadership on promoting awareness of issues facing Asian and Pacific Islander Americans, and increasing appreciation of Asian/Pacific Islander American cultures.  UAAO serves as a communications core for A/PIA student organizations, individuals and hundreds of events on the Ann Arbor campus. focuses on advocacy, community-building, and cultural awareness through weekly meetings, retreats, conferences, shows, and collaborations.


UAAO organizes three large-scale programs annually:
-Asian/Pacific Islander American High School Conference
-Asian/Pacific Islander American Heritage Month (celebrated nationally in May, but observed at UM in March-April)
-Generation Asian Pacific American -- "GenAPA"--the annual pan-Asian cultural show
